So two of my favorite movies this year have been nominated for comedy movie of the year: "Hairspray" and "Juno". Both movies were amazing, so I don't know which I want to win more (Juno probably). But then also "Sweeney Todd" was also nominated, and I cannot wait to see that! In best comedy actress, I also can't decide between Nikki Blonsky, Ellen Page, and Helena Bonham Carter (who I'm sure will be absolutely amazing). I would say that Page definitely has a great shot due to the buzz surrounding that movie (AMAZING MOVIE, by the way). For best actor in a comedy movie, obviously Johnny Depp. For supporting actor in a movie, my choice would be John Travolta just because that was the one movie I saw, but I have to say I didn't think he was that good in "Hairspray". Director and Screenplay are not contest: Tim Burton (Sweeney Todd) and Diablo Cody (Juno), respectively. Of course I do have my faves that are missing. Understandibly, "Superbad" was left out, but that has to be one of the best comedies of the year. Also, I have to say that Imelda Staunton in "Order of the Phoenix" should have gotten some recognition. And how bout Matt Damon or "Bourne Ultimatum"?? and where was "High School Musical 2"?? (joke, btdubs)
Now onto my favorite activity, TV!! Drama, clearly "Grey's Anatomy", but where's "Heroes"? For actress in a drama, I always have a softspot for Patricia Arquette in "Medium". Best comedy is pretty difficult. For me it's between my new fav "Extras" and "Pushing Daisies". Both are grrreat shows, but I think I'm rooting for the latter a little more. Actress in a comedy is even harder: I'm rooting for 4 out of 5!!: Christina Applegate ("Samantha Who?"), America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty"), Anna Friel ("Pushing Daisies"), and Mary-Louise Parker ("Weeds"). With careful consideration ( I don't know what I'm on), I really really want Mary-Louise Parker to win. "Weeds" is more that amazing and she soooo deserves to win. For comedy actor, it's def between Ricky Gervais ("Extras") and Lee Pace ("Pushing Daisies"). I'm probably gonna have to go with Lee Pace and "Pushing Daisies" again this time. For best supporting actress in TV, Katherine Heigl for "Grey's", clearly. And finally, Donald Sutherland ("Dirty Sexy Money") for best supporting actor. PS. again, where was HEROES, 24, Desperate Housewives, and a best comedy for Ugly Betty???
Woah, that was a lot to fit into one breath. Jk, I know I'm not funny.
Hope you enjoyed,
Alex
